Introduction

We now have so many different enviromentally friendly options for our labels - from using recycled materials, renewable resources and biodegradable materials. They’re also often made from compostable materials that break down in a short period of time.

Packaging is an integral part of modern life. Products need to be wrapped up in something before they are shipped off to the store, and once we get there, the product needs to have a label on it so that we know what it is.

There will always be a need for packaging

Packaging has always been a crucial part of the product marketing process. It's what draws us in from the shelf, and it helps give our products their identity. However, there's more to packaging than just its aesthetic qualities. While we're getting better at coming up with creative ways to protect our products and present them in an eye-catching way, sustainability has become an increasingly important factor in packaging design as well.

Packaging has more functions than just protection and presentation. In fact, it can be a powerful marketing tool for building brand awareness. Packaging is one of the first things a customer sees and touches, so it’s important to use it to communicate the story of your brand. It also helps you meet regulations like labeling laws and environmental impact assessments by reducing waste during production and transport.

There is a growing need for products that support sustainability. Brands and consumers alike are becoming more conscious about their impact on the environment, which has created a demand for sustainable packaging. It plays a crucial role in how consumers perceive your brand and how they experience your product or service.

Consumers and sustainability

The environment is something that is becoming more and more important to people. Consumers want to know about the materials that their products are made of, and they want to know that these products are safe for the planet. This is why many companies have been switching over to sustainable packaging in order to give themselves advantages in their market.

Today, we live in a world of sustainability. With the growing population, there is more need for sustainable labels that help our environment. Consumers are now demanding eco-friendly products because they want to help protect our planet. One way we can do this is by choosing recycled materials when designing packaging labels.

Brands are always looking to find ways to make their packaging more sustainable. This is a tough challenge considering the vast array of packaging materials and the variety of factors that can affect how sustainable a material or a package is. With our vast experience spanning over two decades, we can help clarify all the questions you may have with regards to environmentally friendly and sustainable labels.

Sustainable labels show that you are committed to being environmentally responsible. This can help to build trust with your customers and create brand loyalty. Sustainable labeling is a great way to show that you care about the environment and are taking steps to reduce your impact on it.

What to take in consideration?

There are a few things to consider when choosing a sustainable label for your packaging. First, consider the material the packaging is made from. This is very important as the label material has to be in correlation with the packaging material. For example:

-          For a glass bottle you can choose recycled paper, or papers made using renewable sources, such as grape, barley or citrus pulp. But if the bottle is reused, you can opt for a wash-off label (which can be easily removed in the washing process) or choose a label for a multi cycle process, where the bottles are reused together with the labels (a special filmic material could last more than 30 washing cycles, without any visible damage).

-          If you would like to choose a compostable label but you have a plastic packaging, the two will not work together. The reason is that compostable materials are impossible to recycle and the plastic container is not compostable. So you cannot compost or recycle the packaging. For compostable labels, you also need to have compostable packaging.

-          If you have a PET bottle, it can be easily recycled into other PET packaging if it is not contaminated in the recycling process. For this you can choose a special polypropylene label with an adhesive which, during the recycling process, enables the separation of the label with adhesive and ink from the PET bottle flakes.

Finally, consider the adhesive that will be used to attach the label to your packaging. There are a variety of sustainable adhesives available: wash-off adhesives, low migration or OK compost certified adhesives.

Stay tuned because in a future blog post we will discuss in great detail all the packaging possibilities and compatibility of the labels with the packaging material. By following these tips, you can make sure that your labels are as sustainable as possible!

The future of sustainable labels

The future of sustainable packaging is looking very bright. With more and more companies committing to using sustainable materials and practices, we can expect to see a lot of progress in the coming years. Here are some things you can expect to see in the future of sustainable labels:

1. More companies will adopt sustainable packaging practices.

2. The use of recycled materials will increase.

3. Biodegradable materials will become more popular.

4. Companies will focus on reducing their carbon footprints.

5. More regulations will appear.

6. Sustainable packaging will become the norm.

The most innovative packaging designs can be created by a partnership between the label designer and the manufacturer. Finding this balance will help you create packaging that meets all of your brand’s needs, from appearance to sustainability.

Conclusion

Sustainable labeling is a trend that we expect will grow in popularity as time goes on.

The only question is: Will your brand be one of those leading the way towards this new era of packaging?
